never forget facebook platform guidelines

facebook_platformyesterday i got a mail from facebook saying,
“Your xxxxxx application has been disabled for violating Facebook terms and policies, specifically sections II.4.2, II.5.5, and II.10.2 of our Platform Guidelines (http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Platform_Guidelines)”

i’m shocked, because i develop facebook application more than 1 year and this is the first time i got such a mail from facebook.

after that i read the platform guidelines specially II.4.2 and II.5.5 and i send a mail to facebook that i’m sorry i didn’t know those rules earlier and request them to enable my app. then they answered me,

“We apologize for any confusion this may have caused for you. However, your application will not be reinstated, and this decision is final.

If you would like to re-launch your application, please feel free to do so after you have resolved all policy issues and are certain that it meets our terms and policies. Please be aware that re-launching your application without first ensuring it meets our terms and policies may result in additional enforcement actions.

now i am describing what features of my app violates fb rules:

  1. notification: i added a feature in my download app is that, when someone download something from my app i send notifications in background without user’s permission  to 30 random friends of that user by triggering one click. this is prohibited by facebook.
  2. feed: i used link in feed content body that also prohibited in fb rules.

so when you develop and market your application by using fb viral features, please be sure that you never violate fb rules. http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Platform_Guidelines

hmm, my app was disabled by facebook, but they also said I can re initiate that but i’ve to remove those problems. But they also warned my if i again do the same mistake for that re-initiate app, they will take more serious action. 🙁 whatever, i removed those problems and re-initiated that app.

So are you saying that we should no longer use the code from your previous post? http://thinkdiff.net/facebook/how-to-send-notifications-and-emails/
